Warcross is the game of the future, requiring feats of mental quickness and physical strength in a virtual reality battleground. The main character is a bounty hunter embedded into a team in the international Warcross tournament with a mission to catch a cyber-terrorist. Allies become enemies when a plot to enslave the minds of the entire human race is uncovered. The drama escalates quickly and concludes with the sequel, Wildcard.
I enjoyed the character development through both books, but the technological concepts on display in this series are what really sealed the deal for me. There is a lot of cool hardware and software used to integrate the consciousness of man and machine, but how far can we push the limit of what is possible? Even immortality seems attainable in this futuristic sci-fi thriller.
